Cafe Curtain Measuring Guide

1. Decide where the pole goes
There is no right or wrong, but the curtain usually sits just above your window handles and latches. Hold the pole up and see what looks right to you.

2. Measure the drop
From the top of the pole, or the line where it will sit, down to the sill, then take off 1cm so the hem hangs clear. Measure both sides, A to C and B to D. If they differ, use the average and round down to the nearest centimetre.

*Note: we advise hanging your poles at the same time you hang curtains to ensure the best placement.

3. Measure the width
A to B is the span your pole will cover. We add the fullness during making.

** Pocket size & poles**
Standard pockets fit poles up to 19mm in diameter. If your pole is wider, leave a "Message for the maker" in your cart and we'll adapt the pocket to fit.

A double rod pocket is hung on two poles or wires, top and bottom, so the curtain is held taut between them.

1. Decide where both poles go
Consider access to handles/ latches: some people run the curtain the full height of the window, others three quarters or half. The drop is simply the distance between the two poles or wires. On the diagram, A to B is the top pole and C to D the second.

2. Measure the drop
From the top pole down to the second pole, on both sides, A to C and B to D. If they differ, use the average and round down to the nearest centimetre. These curtains look best held taut, so if you are unsure, go shorter rather than longer.

*Note: we advise hanging your poles at the same time you hang curtains to ensure the best placement. This is especially important with the double rod pocket so you can pull the curtain taut.

3. Measure the width
A to B is the span your poles will cover. We add the fullness during making.

** Pocket size & poles**

From the bottom of the rings, or where they will sit, down to the sill, then take off 1cm so the hem hangs clear. Measure both sides, A to C and B to D. If they differ, use the average and round down to the nearest centimetre. This is the finished drop; there is nothing to add for the heading.

3. Measure the width
A to B is the span your pole will cover. We add the fullness during making.

4. Poles & Rings
If your pole is already in place measure from the bottom of the rings to approximately 1cm above the window sill.

If your pole is not in place when measuring take into consideration the curtain will sit below the pole on rings. Hanging the pole and curtain together will help you achieve the desired length.
